You should (no one has to, but should) respect the fact that he did 99% of the work on his car, himself. His purposes for the car are different than yours, so what may be 0 purpose to you, is 100% effective for him. Like you said your self, there are different groups of Z owners, and he is a show car owner (but not a trailer queen :) ), while you are more performance oriented. Just my two cents.
